A: وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته

Yes, you can offer one share (or one animal) for Rasool (SAW) and a separate share (or animal) for your father.

(A share if defined as follows: a cow (camel, baffolo) all have seven shares. You can single out a share from it for a person that is not living or for a living person with their conscent.)

How can I do qurbani abroad?

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَا تُهُ

As we are all aware, there are many people in Ummah who do not eat as well as we do, no matter how simply we may think we eat. In addition to that, one of the fundamental goals of the qurbani of Eid al-Adha is to provide a portion of meat for those who are not as privileged, and indeed are malnourished.

For those of you who would like to do your share, or perhaps even an additional share (one here and one overseas), please do go to the Imam, as he can arrange your qurbani to be done abroad. The overseas qurbani rate is about $30 per share, so Continue reading

Q: Salamualikum,

I lived in Toronto, Canada. I have a question regarding Qurbani. I sent money back home to Pakistan to do my Eid ul Adha qurbani. Is it premissible in Islam to do qurbani oversea, because i perform my Eid prayer after the qurbani was done in Pakistan.  So my qurbani will be accepted or not.

Added information to your (spritually) healthy eating habits

Here is a great article for meat eaters or folks that want to eat EVERYTHING. For example, what is the position of consuming spinal marrow within the parameters of the religion? Do people really eat spinal marrow? Some cultures may have a preference for it, thus a dialogue has occurred relating to it amongst the senior scholars of the past. Continue reading

Why we read what we read after the salah on these days

Q: asalama alykim Imaam, I am sorry. 1) You mentioned about Ibraheim (AS) reciting Allahu Akar when his son was being scarified. There was noise and I really did not get what you said. Can you please help clarify what was read and ow it was read. I recall my teacher saying something similar to us in Somalia when I was young and just need a refresher? Or you can place the recording so we can hear that portion for us. 2) Also how do we read it and when do we read it. Thanks. Shukran. (email) Continue reading
