tawaf and whudhu

Q: I was making tawaaf. My whudu broke. I tried for it not to break. A scholar told me that my tawaaf would  not break due to crowd size. So I made whudu again.what is the best way to do this? Continue reading

hair, nails, etc…

1. In the first 10 days of zilhaj it is required not to cut hairs. Does it include shaving face also. If someone does shave what is the fidya??

Time: Thursday November 26, 2009 at 5:39 am

A: It is best to emulate the hujjaj (those in hajj) as close as possible. This would include the  preference of not cutting your hair, nails, and other actions that the hujjaj take part in or are called upon to refrain from, etc.

All this would be done prior to the new moon ( of zil-hijja) coming in. It’s most preferred that all this be done after the animal has been scarified. This is part of our virtuous deeds.

Shaving of the face for men was never allowed to begin with. If it has to be done due to unbearable circumstances, then the matter would be different.

Should one not practice this sunnah, it would not require a fidya of any type.

The more we incorporate the sunnah into our lives, the better we feel about ourselves and our Islam.

Qurbani is only wajib upon the following persons:

how are you all?? by the grace of almight we are fine. i have a question??? If a person is going to Hajj he has to give qurbani in his name in madina or mecca, can his family members give qurbani also for the person performing hajj in his home country.

A: وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته

A person performing hajj would not have do Qurbani in either of the two blessed places you have mentioned.

Doing a qurbani would gain a person great reward. But its not obligatory upon you.

Should you reside in either of the cities for more than 15 days, then you would turn into a resident (muqeen) and you would become eligible to perform the qurbani. Should this be the case, you are welcome to do the Qurbani wherever you wish.

Qurbani is only wajib upon the following persons:

  • Muslim
  • Free person (an individual that is not a slave.)
  • Resident, not a traveler
  • Person who possesses Nisab of the zakat

hajj — age — money

Q. I am 19 years old is it a sin to not go for hajj if i got the money to go but just don’t go?

A. For a mature male to delay hajj unnecessarily without a valid excuse would be a sin.

Doing Hajj at a later time would insha-Allah gain the forgiveness from the side of Allah (subhanahu wa ta’aala) for a valid reason.

Had Hajj been made obligatory at the first moment that it become fard on a person, then Rasulullah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) would not have done it on the 10th year of Hijri, He (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) would have done it on the 6th year of Hijri when Hajj was made law. Thus, to delay it for valid reasons is allowed. Imaams Abu Hanifa and shafee both support this view.

Sooner the better.

(We answered this question in accordance you to being male based on the name you have sent forth.)

Hajj-e-badal (hajj in exchange of another)

Q. Can a Hajj-e-badal be made for a deceased person who had already done their Hajj in their lifetime? I myself have not gone for Hajj.

It is permissible to perform Hajj of behalf of another, even though the person you intending to person it for has performed their own hajj. However, if the one that passed away had made a bequest that a hajj be done on their behalf, then it would be also allowed to deduct to a maximum of one-third from their given estate for this given Hajj. If the deceased did not request that anyone do a hajj for them, then you would have to bear its cost.

It would be better for you to do your own hajj first. As a suggestion, when you are in Saudi Arabia, go to some good local credible scholar and ask request them to find someone for you to do the hajj-e-badl for the deceased from there. It would be less expensive. You would also get your hajj done as well. Your reward too insha-Allah would be great.
