qadha prayers

Q: Assalamalaikum-What is the ruling for joining salah. Does one just makeup the same amount of rakah that they missed, if so, in what order?

  1. Assalamalaikum, i think you misunderstood me. My question is say if i come to the masjid to pray maghrib and join in the salah in the third rakah, what is the ruling of how to perform the other two rakah after the imam is done with the salah?
Also, is there different rulings for different salah?
Jazakallah Khair, and sorry for the confusion.

  2. Assalamalaikum that makes much more sense alhumdullilah. So correct me if i am wrong, if someone missed one, two or three rakah when they joined in the salah, after the imam finished would they have to get up say sbhanakallhuma, tawooz, etc. Then after that rakah sit down and read tashahood. Afterwards would they then make up however many rakah are need to make up in order (ie: no tashahood in between) and then do the final tashahood?
P.S: in the link for asr salah why wouldn’t one read surah fathiha AND another surah in one of the final two rakas after tashahood since they missed both rakas when the imam did that?

    • are you referring to this statement? Asr: Get up after the Imaam made salam and read that first rakat on your own as if it is your first rakat of salah. (sbhanakallhuma, tawooz, etc would now be read by you in this first rakat.) Then you would sit and take part in the tashahood. Thereafter you would read the last two rakats just as you read the last two rakats of any other Asr Salah.
Does it say anywhere in any of the responses that the Muqtadi (follower) would not ‘read surah fathiha AND another’ for the missed surah fathiha AND the other surah that was missed by them?
I would hand the question over to the imaam if you resend it or clarity, or if the original was unclear. Please kindly let us know. Appreciate your comment, May you be blessed, ameen. Thanks. student #745

  3. Yes i am referring to that statement.
Well since it says read the last two rakats just as any last two rakats i took it as just read surah fatihah and NOT another surah so i was confused as to why you would only read one rakat with surah fatihah AND another surah verses two of them.
