Shawwal, 1432 AH

Due to the crescent for Shawwal not being sighted  across the U.S.A., the Hilal Committee of the Islamic Society of Greater Salt Lake has established that Eid-ul-Fitr will be on Wednesday, August 31.  The details for the Eid-ul- Fitr prayer are as follows:

Location: Masjid Khadeeja, ( the adjacent park)

Time: 8:30 am (please be here by 8:15 am)

For women: access to entire masjid, upstairs and downstairs, capacity of about 1000 people

For men: at the park (44, 000 sq. ft.); hosting capacity: 5 000-7 000 people

Parking capacity: At least 2.5 acres lot near masjid, fit for no less than 500 cars. Plus plenty of street parking. Come early and get the best spot.

An Eid Carnival will be held thereafter at the park from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Festivities and refreshments will be provided, so please bring the children so they may have an enjoyable Eid, inshaAllah.

  1. lets just get along

Eid Mubarak to all Muslims in the world!
Why are we brushing our teeth with toothpaste everyday, shouldn’t we use what was used 1400 years ago. How about taking ghusl, we shouldn’t be taking ghusl in the shower, because there was no shower 1400 years ago. If you get a chance please read the following article. If you do respond, lets please be respectful, i am here to learn, there is no harm in healthy decisions or debates.. AsSalaamuAlaikumm..

(names of scholars have been deleted, we do not take pride in pitting one against the other)

    • You start off with what some may view as sarcasm; towards the end you gain a sense of balance and say: ‘, i am here to learn; there is no harm in healthy decisions or debates.’ Subhanallah!
To keep matters in perspective, better yet, in order to keep the ‘debate’ on an equal footing, send to our site your credentials as they relate to Hadith and fiqh, and we would be glad to entertain you.
As for the scholars you have quoted, I suggest you look at their arguments from a non-emotional/non-heuristic point of view; you would be amazed as to the benefit you would derive. Regardless, some of what you have sent my way is old data. One of the scholars actually makes my argument stronger. Read the matter and what is being said between the lines.
Wishing you and your family the best,
      Wasalam

  2. Assalama Alaykum,
Since the women would be inside the masjid, can one perform the two rakah of entering the masjid before the eid salah?
May Allah(s.w.t) reward you and accept all our deeds we have done in Ramadan.Ameen
    Eid Mubarak.

  3. Assalaamu ‘Alaykum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakatuh,

There is no sunnah/nafl salah before the Eid salaah. You can recite the following Takbir in the low voice while going to the ‘Eid prayer (and while at the prayer location in a soft tone.)

Takbeer: Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar La Ilaha Ila Allah Wa Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Wa Lillahi Alhamd

May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala reward you for taking the time to think this through in advance, and giving others an opportunity to learn, ameen.

    Wasalaam
