procedure to get married

My question is:
What is the procedure to get married at the mosque? I mean the most simple and basic marriage.
Thank You.

  • Bring legal marriage certificate from the state office. (We do not wish to go above the law of the land.)
  • Come with two (preferably parental and family) witnesses.
  • Have the Mehr amount planned and discussed between marital parties.
  • My fees: free. Or better yet, as for payment: be on time. I do not prefer to sit waiting for hours for parties that cannot find the right shade of makeup to impress their guests. Delay disrupts other appointments.

Allah Certainly Knows Best.

As-salaam-alaikum to the couple getting married in the masjid. I think it is great to have your nikah in the masjid and not in a hall with hundreds, and I think that Jummah is a blessed day and then people who come for prayers can witness and partake, which is always an honor. Imam is very humble and offers many of his services free and no charge, if I may suggest that you donate something to the Islamic Society of Greater Salt Lake it will help with the maintainence of the building, the heating, lighting, water bill, etc. and pray that our Imam has a kind congregation that appreciates all he does for us. Ameen, and that he and his family are rewarded for his services and stay in good health. Ameen.
