  1. Salamu Alaykum,

Frist off jazakallahu khair for having your lectures posted I just noticed it now… May Allah reward you and your family!
Question; Why doesn’t Surah Taubah have Bismillah?
and when we read it do we not say Bismillah because it doesn’t have it or should we say bismillah regardless it not being there?
    p.s
Now that Ramadan is over will you be starting tafseer again?

I have in my notes from yesterday that Surah Tawbah doesn’t have Bismillah in it for either of 2 reasons:
      1. Some argue it is because Allah SWT is angry in this Surah.
      2. Others say the Bismillah is part of other Surahs.

        regarding point 2:
Bismillah as a word and phrase remains to be mentioned in multiple places of the Quran.
It is not included in surah tawbah due to the anger of Allah (SWT). Also it has been accepted by some that surah tawbah is not really a new surah and remains as a continuation of surah Anfal thus bismillah need not be recited. Other reasons do exist, this would suffice for now.

I think it’s because Allah (SWT) is angry, therefore we don’t have the “In the name of the Most Gracious, Most Merciful”.
Because in the Qur’an it doesn’t have the Bismillah, we also don’t read it.
I could be wrong in my answer, so someone correct me if I am.

As for Tafseer, The Imam will have it again starting in a week or two weeks (so it could be next Friday) inshAllah.
