hajj — age — money
Q. I am 19 years old is it a sin to not go for hajj if i got the money to go but just don’t go?
A. For a mature male to delay hajj unnecessarily without a valid excuse would be a sin.
Doing Hajj at a later time would insha-Allah gain the forgiveness from the side of Allah (subhanahu wa ta’aala) for a valid reason.
Had Hajj been made obligatory at the first moment that it become fard on a person, then Rasulullah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) would not have done it on the 10th year of Hijri, He (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) would have done it on the 6th year of Hijri when Hajj was made law. Thus, to delay it for valid reasons is allowed. Imaams Abu Hanifa and shafee both support this view.
Sooner the better.
