general rule: never confuse a request with command
Asalaamuaalykum,
Is this the same Sunnah that you do when you enter the Masjid? Or is this is the Jummah Salaat Sunnah.
In whichever case, do we perform the Sunnah of entering the Masjid after adhan has been made for Jummah?
I remember this Hadith about this topic, but am not sure what Salaat is in question:
“A person entered the mosque while the Prophet (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa
Sallam) was delivering the Khutba on a Friday. The Prophet (Sallallahu
‘Alaihi Wa Sallam) said to him, “Have you prayed?” The man replied in the
negative. The Prophet (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, “Get up and pray
two Rakat.”
Answer:
وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته
You are confusing tahiyatul musjid with the sunnah linked to the sunnah which remains attached to the Jummah – be it prior or eafter. There is difference between Rasululah’s (SAW) statements — in that all the statements are not on the status of command as much as it remains for a request for greater virtue when done in its appropriate manner and attached to it is its proper context.
Don’t make fard what Allah (SWT) did nto make fard. THis hadith cannot be generalized to all situations.
Our answer stands as is.

Asalaamualaykum,
Ok, I’m sorry, I didn’t see it but the answer was given before. Tahitul Masjid is not fard, but was done by Rasullallah (SAW). I guess I’ve convinced myself to do what Rasullallah (SAW) did because it’s better to do it that way, whether it’s fard or not.

Dear Anonymouse,
you mean well insha Allah. However, here is the reality here are the out lined opinions
1-Imam Ahmed and Shafi consider the above hadith as a evidence for doing the Tahitul Masjid is Mustahab (preferred).
2-While The Opinion of majority of the Tabeen (Imam Abu Hanifa, Imam Malik, Imam Sufyan Al thawri) and the Sahaba among which are
Omar bin khattab, Othamn bin Affan, Ali bin Abi Tablib is not to pray it while the khutba is going on!!!!
NOW HOW CAN ONE CONVINCE HIS or HERSELF THAT THE SAHABA SOMEHOW CONVINCED THEMSELVES TO DEVIATE FROM THEIR BELOVED NABI”S GUIDANCE???? THINK FOR A MINUTE
Islamic Fiqh is a sea of knowledge
I refer all in this blog to read a book called
أدب المفتي والمستفتي
the Atticates of the one seeking a fatwa and the one giving the Fatwa by Ibn Salah
correction I meant etiquette
Hmm…well I tend to follow Imam Hanifa’s ruling.
So I guess I now know not to read Tahiyatul masjid while Khutba is going on.
The way I interpreted it was that the Prophet (SAW) was doing the Khutba. And the man interrupted him (SAW) by not reading the 2 rakaat. It seemed like a big deal not to read it because the Prophet (SAW) had to stop his Khutba to instruct the man.
But I guess if the Sahaba,as well as the majority, didn’t read it while Khutba is going on, it makes sense not to do it as I’m not even close to that level of spirituality or knowledge level.
WalaykumAsalaam, thanks for clarification Br. Yassir.
