For our students only: من نام فات
For our students that read our site and are taking our classes
Know the following for your eventual exam. (No clue yet when it is to take place. Kind of like how we don’t know when the real Day of Judgment is to occur.) Fact: do not turn your exam grade into a mini Qiyamah.
- What is the phrase kalimah comprised of? (*hint*three things!)
- Why is the concept of فعل فاعل مفعلول important ? (No brainer question! If you don’t know, read on.)
- What are the signs of فعل فاعل مفعلول? (Sorry to insult you again with a simple question. But I just want my students to be happy! Sure!)
- Definition of مضاف and مضاف اليه What signs each of them accept as well as does not accept? How does it differ from جار ومجرور
- Know موصوف and صفات and the signs they each would and would not take.
- How is مضارع made from a ماضى What are the signs of each. How does a change take place from one to the other? How does knowing this help to use a dictionary?
- What is جملة اسمية (I used another word in class in place of this word, (what was it sleepy head! Applies to only the one that sleeps in class. Example, those who cannot translate the in class used phrase من نام فات)
- What is جملة فعلية
- What is فعل فاعل مفعول
- What is a فعل مضارع
- What is جار …… what does it look for?
- Examples of جار (we used another word for it in class, what was it?!)
- Give me examples of جار ومجرور
- ان (and its sisters) are followed by what signs?
- كان (and its sisters) are followed by what signs?
- When you see an Arabic word, what must you look to find out about that word?
- When you see a sentence, what must you look for to make it an intelligible sentence?
- Knows the scales, he (1 male/female, two males/females, many males/females) etc.
If I am in a rotten mood, or an over happy mood, I would give you any of the Arabic text we are using and ask you to apply the above rules. If I am in an average mood, you may not get a test at all!
In a real school, they would never make it this easy for you. I am helping you, so be kind and help yourself by knowing the above.
Students can post their answers here to help and correct others! I would try and not interfere with your responses… unless I cannot resist. Use the numbering system above for greater clarity as to what you are seeking a response towards. (beats having facebook, as recommended in class…)
You are all brilliant, so prove me right when I say, ‘you can all get 100%’ (yeah right!)
(May Allah help you all in learning His language to attain closeness to Him! When you learn the language of Allah, you get rewarded. ‘The fish in the ocean even make dua for you.’ (Hadith) May Allah shower you with his Grace for the good choices you all have made, Ameen)

This is not easy!!!!!! But I’m sure I can break the code. Thanks for your help though, I think I can get a decent grade. Oh and can you come to class with an average mood cause I really don’t want to take a test.
Yea! I think i am confident ( yeah right!) but the one sitting by me is freaking out and running around the house yelling faala falo falat! but inshallah i think we will all do well. ( could you um not confuse us on an exam and make it easy please please)
Enlarge it on your computer and learn it right. If you learn it wrong, to undo it would be a chore.
هو فعل

Salam,
Can you please post the other part to this, you told us to remind you in class.
NO! u gotta wait till i come to class and learn before you post it. Please
please do post the other part. Sister inshallah you will get the other part, but we really need this part inorder to memorize the other part.
know this scale cold. Also know its
هو

هم
هي
هما
هنّ
etc. till its end…
(if someone is giving you a hard time, let me know their name, i shall make their test a little harder, should that please you *wink*)
erm…could you please post its end..the full scale.
I kind of slightly lost it.
Jazakallahu khair Imam!
may Allah reward you in this life and the hereafter
for all the knowledge we have gained in your class…even if our test doesn’t show the knowledge its there in our brain… somewhere…
Ameen!
Ya Allah I know most of this stuff it’s slot easier then you confusing me in class alhamdulilah
Now that I am confident I must be sure I am extra confident. Yeah I agree don’t confuse us on the test please.
1. Every word in Arabic is a Kilma and it is comprised of Harf, Isam, Fail.
Harf does not have any meaning and is a helping word such as “ba”, “Ala”, “min”, “fee”. Isam is a noun and its meaning only comes when combined with other words. it is not combined with time or place and takes many signs, such as “masjid”, “Bintoon”, “Molana Muhammad Shoib” and etc. Fail has meaning by its self and is connected with time and place such as “daraba”, “samia”, “Zakara”.
2. The concept of fail feal mafool (sorry can’t write it in arabic) is important so we know what is being done and who the doer is. Fail looks for fa-el and mafool takes damma.
3. Mafool takes damma and don’t know the other two..but i thought it depends on the gender and how many people are doing the action.
4. Mudaf Mudafile is something of something… Mudaf does not accept Tanween or alif laam. Mudafile can take tanween if there is no alif laam. It is not a full sentence unless “Haza” is added. Jar MAjroor is when there is harf before it which becomes the “jar”which looks for it’s neighbor and the the word after that becomes “majroor”. such as ” Fi Qaryatiin” Fi is the jar because it is the “harf” and ” qaryatin is the “majroor”.
5. Mowsoof Sifat is the definition of the quality.. Sifat is the qality…such as tall man..tall becomes the quality or descruption. In arabic such as “Rajoolon Mashhooroon”, famous man, famous is the quality of the man. there is 4 rules to mowsoof sifat.
1. Gender Quality .. (females often have “tha” so if mowsoof was to have that in the end, the Sifat would also have “tha” in the end.
2. Number.. If mowsoof is plural sifat has to be plural and vise versa.
3. If one has “alif lam” the other has to have Alif laam as well.
4. Gramatical stat. If one was to end in Damma the other has to end in damma as well.
6. Madhi is the past while Mudari is the present and the future.
Madhi one would say .. Akala (he one male ate) Mudari one would say Yakuloo (he one male is eating or will eat) …To change to Mudari we have to add the Ya in the begining if talking about a third person. but we add “tha” in the begining if talking about a second person ( you ate= Takulo) ( Molana i am sooo confused about the question you are asking because the signs in the begining and the end changes due to the people we are talking about) but i will try to explain it again.. read below if you are confused with the one above cuz i am.
WE know that the ” AEN” kalima changes in a fail.
IF the root word (which are mostly always 3) all Fatha then we have three choices ( fatha, kasra, damma) And to look it up in the dictionary we have 3 choices for fatha=A damma=u kasra=I… for example if it was “Daraba” (all fatha) we would have three choices ( dariba, Daraba, and Daroba) and we use IAU to find the definitions in dictionary.
IF the Ein kalima was a kasra we would have two choices. Fatha and Kasra. and we use the above rule to find it in a dictionary but we wont be using “U”.
If the “Ein” kalima is Damma then we have one choice. damma=U.. it will not take fatha or kasra.
7. You are right I should not have been sleeping at that time cuz i don’t know this one.
Is is the same as Jumla Khabariya?
8. Jumla Faliyat is for example ‘ Sami’a Muhammadun” Samia is the fail and Muhamd is the mafool. Mafool takes damma. and and and …(i will drink coffee next time before coming to class)
9. Fail is the action being done, Fa’il is the doer and mafool is being done upon.
10. What is a fail Mudari… it is Fail plus fa’ail. wait is it that ..i think its that ..tell me it’s that.
11. um I answered that in above.
12. Fi, Bi, Qabla, ( it is a harf)
13. written above.
14. They are followed by fatha.
15. kana is follwed by damma.
16. The tarkib and is it Fail, harf, or Ism. (right?)
17. Tarkib (hehe no?)
18. yeah i am not gonna write the last one i am sure all of you got it in your notes.
Where ever you see *, it means it was corrected: usually it would be at the end of the sentance
*for the grossly wrong spelling of my honorable name, minus ¼ point. Correction one: فعل not always connected to time. When I say, ‘He hit,’ no time attributed to it, action is attributed to it! (minus 75% on this question)
2. The concept of fail feal mafool (sorry can’t write it in arabic) is important so we know what is being done and who the doer is. Fail looks for fa-el and mafool takes damma.
* fatha == مفعول(this is major error, minus 75% again!)
3. Mafool takes damma and don’t know the other two..but i thought it depends on the gender and how many people are doing the action.
*what are you talking about? embarrassing — I would just not show up for the exam and be brave about my lack of achievements!)
*no clue what you mean by adding ‘hamza’ take that part out of your notes. Excellent job on the rest of it!
5. Mowsoof Sifat is the definition of the quality.. Sifat is the qality…such as tall man..tall becomes the quality or description.

3. If one has “alif lam” the other has to have Alif laam as well.
4. Gramatical stat. If one was to end in Damma the other has to end in damma as well.
*man is موصوف (wherein you talking about a thing, etc) and famous is صفات (wherein you talking about the type, quality of man! Is this what you saying?) (9/10)
*remember the اتين rule. When ماضى does its change, it would use the اتين rule
WE know that the ” AEN” kalima changes in a fail. *excellent
*excellent

If the “Ein” kalima is Damma then we have one choice. damma=U.. it will not take fatha or kasra.
*(Above, I think you meant ماضى … ‘madhi’ means precoital fluid. I think it would be better if you start to type in Arabic!)
*excellent!!!
7. You are right I should not have been sleeping at that time cuz i don’t know this one.
Is is the same as Jumla Khabariya?
*are you asking me????
8. Jumla Faliyat is for example ‘ Sami’a Muhammadun” Samia is the fail and Muhamd is the mafool. Mafool takes damma. and and and …(i will drink coffee next time before coming to class)
* you keep getting مفعول(it takes a fatha) wrong! Now I am getting not sooo happy! ‘Muhammed listened’ thus Muhammed is the فاعل
9. Fail is the action being done, Fa’il is the doer and mafool is being done upon.
*your first half of the answer was wrong, second half was correct!
10. What is a fail Mudari… it is Fail plus fa’ail. wait is it that ..i think its that ..tell me it’s that.
* What you are saying is that in a فعل مضارع is a hidden فاعل . Ex: يعبدون الأصنام … يعبدونis فعل مضارع (they are worshipping) and فاعل is the hidden هم (they all)within the word. الأصنام is thus the مفعول which would take a faatha!!!
11. um I answered that in above.
12. Fi, Bi, Qabla, ( it is a harf) *excellent!
13. written above.
14. They are followed by fatha. *excellent
15. kana is follwed by damma. *excellent
16. The tarkib and is it Fail, harf, or Ism. (right?)
*are you asking me? That is weird!
17. Tarkib (hehe no?)
*Are you asking me again? Did your notes get wet in the rain?
18. yeah i am not gonna write the last one i am sure all of you got it in your notes.
A generous C as it stands. I think once quirks are removed, you can make it into a positive low A
(I think you have helped the class out a lot, may Allah bless you!)
here is a gift to you: use it. It sure helps. http://arabic.speak7.com/arabic_keyboard.html
Thank you for the correction Imaam Muhammad Shoayb,
On “*no clue what you mean by adding ‘hamza’ take that part out of your notes”
I meant “هذا” was to be added if we wanted to make a full sentence otherwise it is not a full sentence. Am i wrong?
i get what you saying. In that case, it kinda makes sense. Get it right the first time
you are correct for that which you intended to convey. (But is that what i asked?) Good effort
wow I better not even try
I would have tried. But there was the fitnah of copy and pasting.
من جد وجد whoever strives, they shall acquire. (better to try then quit… ) So are you a quitter? Did you let go of the phrase? ‘yes, we can!’ or you just never heard it! (yet)
Inshallah you’ll come in an average mood, hopefully not happy or ‘rotten’.
And I deleted facebook! Yaya, If I didn’t learn Fiil and Faail, at least I was awake for that.
the time you save on facebook gets you the honor of learning the following:
(blow it up on your computer for better sizing)
هو يفعل
هما يفعلان
هم يفعلون
هي تفعل
هما تفعلان
هنّ يفعلن
انتَ تفعل
انتما تفعلان
انتم تفعلون
انتِ تفعلين
انتما تفعلان
انتنّ تفعلن
انا أفعل
نحن نفعل
for the exam: know this scale cold. Also know its
هو
هما
هم
هي
هما
هنّ
etc. till its end…
Shukran!
for posting that I lost my paper with all that on it.
i forgot to tell say PLEASE DO NOT BE IN A OVER HAPPY MOOD OR A BAD MOOD !
Trying to do good you forgot to say that fi’il is an action
Sifat is the quality and mosur is the description just some help
Mosuf is the quality and sifat is the description of the quality.
The example Imam gave us is in the story of “The seller of the idols”
Kabla Ayamin kathyratin…Ayamin is the mosuf because it gives a quality it means days…then we get the description kathyratin meaning many days.
Then in the next sentence we see Kathyrantin again but this time it changes; Kathyratin becomes the mosuf and jada becomes the syfat. Many days (kathyrantin) many…many…many! days! (jada), jada is the syfat cause it describes how many days ago it was.
May Allah reward our efforts in doing well in this class as well as in this life, amin.
‘The example Imam gave us is in the story of “The seller of the idols”’
Wrong!, this example is incorrect. he did not give this example!!!(zero points on this one) ‘Famous man,’ is what you meant to say for this example!
Your understanding of tarkeeb was overall good.
Are you serious!
ugh! grrr..
that’s what I have as under notes,
whatever I have the main concept down, so two points for that.
Never mind on the fi’il part
Good job CW and trying to do good! No need for coffee “trying to do good” cause you did great!
Subhanallah, Imam Shoayb!
You say those are simple questions, but we (speaking for myself) will look like a fool when I get it wrong.
Inshallah, the rest of the class and I will do well, amin yarabil alamin!
My answers; pending…
inshallah I will post it tomorrow!
p.s
fellow students…we should treat imam shoayb in a kindly manner (so he can cancel the test and more reviews day)…ex. not sleeping, daydreaming, and talking amongst ourselves while in class so he may be in a average mood or great mood.
I speak for myself for what I said above, because I surely am guilty of all three.
May Allah help us all for this test, as well as the test on the day of judgment, Amin!
Wow…I am so glad I did not sign up for this class (I’m way too weak and inshAllah may Allah give me the strength to begin the class later), alhamdulillah those who are still in it are brave souls! We’ll all pray for you Imam, to be in an average mood (and not rotten or over happy… I’m confused on the over happy mood but oh well) and to show mercy to these students.
Note of encouragement to those who are/will be taking the upcoming exam, think of the BIG picture of why you are in this class and inshAllah you will all succeed. Allah rewards those with the right intentions in seeking Ilm…never forget that and you will be successful in what you pursue.
Study hard, study passionately with full devotion, study often, and form study groups with your peers, and inshAllah you’ll all do great.
I wish you all the very best.
Wasalam.
Jazakallahu khair for your encouragement!
Inshallah you will be able to join the class,
the class is not too bad (once you start paying attention, and fight yourself staying awake on saturday mornings).
Barakullah feek for your kind words.
InshAllah one day I’ll join, when I can summon enough courage and commit enough time and effort to it, just pray for me inshAllah.
Advice on helping to stay awake on Saturday mornings: don’t go to sleep after Fajr. The best time to study (in this case to review last lesson) is right before (of course study before the morning but use this time to have a quick review) and pray Shuruq 4 raka’ats: 2 and 2. Reward for one is as if you’ve completed a Hajj and reward for the other is that Allah will help you in all your endeavors for that day. The time for it is a little after Fajr, around sunrise if I’m not mistaken.
Do that inshAllah and keep it as a habit and inshAllah you’ll stay awake. Oh and take a small siesta (Kalullah in Arabic, it was a Sunnah that the Prophet (SAW) practiced) after Dhuhr for about 20-30 minutes (no more than that!) and inshAllah that will refresh you and give you enough energy for the rest of your day as well as give you rest after the intensive morning class.
If I’m wrong in whatever I have said, I ask for someone to please correct me so I can learn from my mistakes.
Wasalam.

1. All Arabic words are Al-Kalima. Kalima is divided into three
groups;
• Al-harf-words that have no meaning alone. Harf always gets tawin or kasra. Example of harf; ba, fe, ala, min, towards, in, and with.
• Al-isam-words that have meaning, but not connected to time. Isam sign always changes, depending on the word it is being combained with. Example of Isam is Tiger, Ka’bah, Masjidon, and kaleb.
• Al-Fa’il-has meaning, but not connected to time and tense. Fa’il gets fatha
2. Concept of fail, fi’el, and mafool. First off it is important to know this because then when analyzing sentences we know who is the doer and what is being done upon. Fail is always looking for fi’el(doer) takes fatha(rasu-la-lahi), mafool takes damma, ex. Sam’itu (he heard)
3. The first one gets all fatha, the second one get fatha on the fa, ayn gets sukon and lam gets fatha, mafool always takes damma. Haha sorry I apologize; I’m not really sure what you’re asking here.
4. *the only thing I understand like the back of my hand. Okay so Mudaf Mudaflay(MM) is something of something (SOS) Mudaf, doesn’t accept tanwin or AL, Mudafilay only accepts tanwin with the absences of AL. Likewise to Mosuf syfat, MM does not form a complete sentence, Example; Ba’a Al-asnam (seller of idols), it is not a complete sentence unless the missing word is added, thus being Hada “this is”. Then thats when things get really technical with the jar/majroor stuff. This dynamic duo only comes in when there is a harf infront of the word, jar (another word for harf) is always looking for its neighbor majroor.
5. Mosuf Sifat (MS), Mosuf is the quality and Sifat describes the quality (think of sifat as the adjective). Example; Fe karyatin rajlon mashuron, in town a famous man, rajlon being the quality and mashuron describes the quality of the rajlon being the mosuf. Do you want the four rules?
6. Al-Madhi is the past, and Al-Mudari is the present/future. Okay…I’m going to stop here because I’m not too confident with this, I understand the whole changing Mudari by adding the ya, I’m still confused on how to apply it when searching for words in the dictionary. I get the whole AIU stuff, but a to how to apply that’s where you lose me. What I do know A gets fatha, Ugets damma, and I gets kasra. When all three letters are fatha they get 3choices example;fataha. A) fatha gets 3 choices, B) kasra gets 2 choices, ayn kalima gets 2choices. C) damma, ayn kalima damma gets 1 choice. I guess to find it words in the dictionary this whole method must be utilized, but even slightly knowing this I would still have the hardest time using one.
7. The word you used was Jumla Khabria, this is the action phrase and gets damma. *ya’allah! Dude Imam Shoyab use that small bit of mercy Allah has blessed you with upon us.
8. Jumla faliyat action phrase this also takes damma, the example you had was kasim went; *insert arabic word for went Kasimtu….ugh! I don’t know A for effort!
9. Fa’il is the doer and mafool is something that’s being done upon.
10. Fa’il mudari……IDK my bff jill.
11. Refer to answer4, but if you are too lazy to or just don’t want to then it is Majroor.
12. Ba, ila, fe, jada, towards (refer to answer 1 when I gave all the examples of harf).
13. Kabla ayamin.
14. What follows ina is fatha, and what follows that fatha will be a damma. Example-Ina’il insana la’fi kusri
15. What follows kana is damma, and what follows that damma is fatha; example kannat hijratuhu ila.
16. Okay so when you have the word you look to see which one it falls under Harf, Ism, and fa’il. Harf you don’t need to do much work, Ism and Fa’il you need to then search for the kabir, fa’il you need to look for the file.
17. Tarkib and kabir..idk my bff jill.
18. Meh…I have that but too lazy to write it out on the computer..may allah cure my laziness ameen!
*Imam! If majority of my answers are wrong save me the embarrassment, discount everything I’ve said above, and let me soak and drown in my own stupidity!
Bold face is correction of your work

(thanks for asking me what I want, I hope next time you can give without asking. That would be more generous. Excellent)
6. Al-Madhi is the past, and Al-Mudari is the present/future. 7. The word you used was Jumla Khabria, this is the action phrase and gets damma. *ya’allah! Dude Imam Shoyab use that small bit of mercy Allah has blessed you with upon us. (I aint your dude!!! The name is Muhammed Shoayb. Don’t wear it out. Excellent
8. Jumla faliyat action phrase this also takes damma, the example you had was kasim went; *insert arabic word for went Kasimtu….ugh! I don’t know A for effort! (zero for wanting to drown in your own…)
9. Fa’il is the doer and mafool is something that’s being done upon. (u missing one)
10. Fa’il mudari……IDK my bff jill. (zero)
11. Refer to answer4, but if you are too lazy to or just don’t want to then it is Majroor. (do u really think I am your errand boy? Next time, give me the answer, or be silent and take your zero!)
12. Ba, ila, fe,jada towards (refer to answer 1 when I gave all the examples of harf).Jada? what is that?!
13. Kabla ayamin. (excellent)
14. What follows ina is fatha, and what follows that fatha will be a damma. Example-Ina’il insana la’fi kusri (your answer was correct, your example was VERY wrong! Go and look up the ayah and tell find out why! Now this was a dumb error)
15. What follows kana is damma, and what follows that damma is fatha; example kannat hijratuhu ila. (your answer was correct, your example was VERY wrong! Now this was a dumb error. What you mean by ‘ila.’ May Allah bles my soul with this person!)
16. Okay so when you have the word you look to see which one it falls under Harf, Ism, and fa’il. Harf you don’t need to do much work, Ism and Fa’il you need to then search for the kabir, fa’il you need to look for the file. (kabir? What is that? Seems like you know what you saying)
17. Tarkib and kabir..idk my bff jill. (what does bff jill stand for? Are you saying your boyfriends name is jill? I am lost. May Allah not let you have boyfriends and girlfriends)
18. Meh…I have that but too lazy to write it out on the computer..may allah cure my laziness ameen! (and may allah not let you drown in your laziness either!)
*Imam! If majority of my answers are wrong save me the embarrassment, discount everything I’ve said above, and let me soak and drown in my own stupidity!
Grade B- But because others have given most of the answers, and due to you not learning from there errors. Also, for not using the Arabic keyboard that was shared. Use your mouse and the keyboard works fine. This time I shall honor you instead with a C
I’m sorry I called you dude, and implied that you my errand manboy; when you are clearly my Imam and teacher. So…um is number 8wrong?
Number 12 jada meaning very…I thought that was a harf? Is it not?
“My Allah bless my soul with this person” Ameen!
Ameen to the dua on 18!
For my own personal self-esteem I’m going to ignore the C and accept the B- with open arms. Whatever helps us sleep at night right?
Anyways jazakallahu khair for shining the light on my wrongful errors!
p.s
Jill is neither my boyfriend or girlfriend…just a mere figment of my imagination.
Jazakhallah kair to the over achievers that posted the answers to the review questions.
Imam will this be a written exam?
Assalaamu’Alaykum wa rahmatuLlaahi wa barakatu,
If you want to type in Arabic from your Latin keyboard, you can use either yamli or Google ta3reeb. Ta3reeb seems to do a better job of guessing the correct Arabic spelling, but that might just be my imagination.
Perhaps some of you might find these tools appropriate at this time; if it’s too late, then perhaps next semester.
Imam, if non-students want to post answers (people from other parts of the world, for example), can they post here? Or do you want to leave this as a brainstorming sessions for students only?
All the best to all of you for success on this exam and beyond. May Allah thrust wide open the doors of knowledge for you, ameen.
Wassalaam
Q. I was lost on ‘salasatha quru’… i really wanted to ask you what was going on… (private request for a written response! You got guts Sir/Madam!)
Let me help you: key word under discussion (microscope) in the ayah which states: يَتَرَبَّصۡنَ بِأَنفُسِهِنَّ ثَلَـٰثَةَ قُرُوٓءٍ۬ We must realize that it is a phrase that deals with two key words within its structure. These two words are ثَلَـٰثَةَ قُرُوٓءٍ۬ . The debate outlined as a result of these words also circumvent the area which deals with two additional words you should be greatly familiar with: خا ص and عا م. Review your notes for clarity of these concepts before you move on!( Or else you would remain lost, never to be found!)
To help your understanding, now you must additionally know a few more things. One of them being, look at these two words and ask yourself, what is this word (phrase). Is it x, y z? in this case, the answer would be that ثَلَـٰثَةَ قُرُوٓءٍ۬ is موصوف and صفات . You would also be able to spot its signs.(master this idea well!)
Once you know it is موصوف / صفات , you would recognize that these two words are to form according to the standards we have discussed, and as these two words go, they are lacking conformity between themselves. Example, ثَلَـٰثَةَ has a word in the end of it that does not match the ending of the word قُرُوٓءٍ۬ . (Move on only when you understand aspect. Its important for the remaining portion)
We also learnt that this entire argument also based on the fact that talaq 9divorce) is best given to a woman whilst she is in her طهر and not حيض When a woman is not menstruating, she is said to be in the state of طهر and not حيض (time period wherein she is menstruating.).
The wrench get thrown in!
As we learnt, the word ثَلَـٰثَة is feminine, as can be noted by its ending letter. If the word ثَلَـٰثَةَ is feminine due to last letter, than obviously قُرُوٓءٍ۬ must also be feminine! Due to lack of conformity, we has a little problem. Thus, ثَلَـٰثَة remains feminine, and قُرُوٓءٍ remains a masculine word. If this is true, then the following applies. If ثَلَـٰثَة is a feminine word, then its meaning would be carried upon حيض (menstruation) (because in reality, only a woman gets it) also this would mean, قُرُوٓءٍ would be in the meaning of طهر due to its ending letter. طهر is the state in which a woman is viewed as being as part of her pure state.
Once you folks get this, and have mastered the above, please let me know, then I shall continue…… I need at least 5 replies for me to help you beyond… if you folks wish, summarize the above in your own words from the Arabic text, and see if you derive the summary meaning I have provided from the Arabic. Do not respond until you know it and have derived the same meaning (or more better understanding). The only way you can achieve this is that if you love to read the Arabic text!
(you folks are doing great, May Allah continue to Bless you all! If you can master the above, you on your way to being insha-Allah good scholars of religion! This lesson is not easy to understand for majority of people the first time around! You folks are doing better then many others!)
The two very important words one must understand before even trying to comprehend anything is خاص and . خاص; is a word which is placed for a known meaning or known a known name upon its individual type; like our saying Zaid. عامis used for something general. Example; humankind isعام , because its very general, but then you start to narrow it down or when you start getting more specific you get Male and Female, which is خاص . You break it down to its individual type (خاص) then its generalized type(عام) humans. (does it make sense or am I just rambling useless points?).
The main picture that is being focused on is the words قُرُوءٍ
ثَلَـٰثَة
(I’d like to just point out that the arabic type is annoying, but that is my own personal complait saved for another day)
Now looking at the word ثَلَـٰثَة and the signs it shows you would atomically say it is موصوف-صفات The problem is these two words go against one of the موصوف-صفات laws; being gender equal. ثَلَـٰثَة is feminine word, but قُرُوءٍ is masculine. Now assuming it is true applying it all into context ثَلَـٰثَة would be used for the word حيض (while a woman is menstruating) because the only female kind gets periods, and قُرُوءٍ would be used for the word طهر (the period of time where a woman is in a pure state).
Now knowing all this we now know that the best time to divorce is while the woman is طهر in her pure state, and not حيض menstruating.
..that’s my best cliff note summary of it, I hope it’s right…
1. This is the topic under the banner of Kitab of Allah. This is later divided into the subtopic of:
A. خاص and عام. (upon defining these two phrases)
1. Ask yourself, are the words ثَلَـٰثَةَ قُرُوٓءٍ۬ part of خاص and عام? What type of word is it? موصوف صفات etc, etc.
2. Also, what do all scholars agree upon, in that, what is the best time to divorce a woman? In her حيض or طهر? (The response to this would impact us down the line regarding the word ثَلَـٰثَةَ ۬.)
A. If one word is masculine and the other feminine, what does this mean? What would its implications be?
B. How are the words حيض and طهر derived? If you know how they are derived from ثَلَـٰثَةَ قُرُوٓءٍ۬,
C. If you comprehend the above, you are indeed blessed. Go and read two Rataks salaat of gratitude, for Allah is on your side! Don’t let this blessing snap away from you.
I am disappointed that people stole the notes of others. This is not the first time. How can you study Quran, Hadith and sunnah and be a thief?
I agree with you Imaam Mohammad, it’s really disappointing.
I had a really quick question: on the Rahman and Raheem, they both have the same amount of letters and you said that Raheem has more letters…
its based on root word structure: one have رحم as its root word structure, the other has the same structure with an added ي before its last letter. This added letter places it on a scale in arabic that gives it more meaning.
Assalamu Alaykum fellow students and teacher,
First and for most, thanks to the teacher for making the exam somewhat easy and for giving us points when we did not deserve it. As for bribing your students with money, that is an offense to some of us. We don’t need to be reward for learning the Deen. In fact you should be the one receiving as you have to take your time to deal with our annoying and disruptive behavior. I am pretty sure you have something more interesting do with your time on saturday morning than to teach but Jazakallah for your time.
Asalamualikom,
Thank You so much for making the test a piece of cake(Even thought I think I failed it)!! Well half of it was easy the other half I didn’t have a clue what to write, but Thank You Imam for taking all your time and making it easy for us to pass, may Allah reward you for all you have done for us….. May Allah fulfill all your dreams!! GRACIAS!!SHUKRAN!!TASHAKOOR!!MANANA!!
W.S. you are miss smarty pants so I am sure you did awesome. I have to say you are one of the most dedicated students I have ever seen, you make me want to try harder. WOW, you can say thanks in so many languages, while we are at it, here is thank you in other languages, DANKE SCHON! MERCI BEAUCOUP! ASANTI! DANKIE! XIE XIE! DOMO ARRIGATO!
Some of you disappoint me… this to me means that you folks never even read this site! see the post of July 6. (scroll to it) Out of kindness, we are to share it again:
هو يفعل / هما يفعلان / هم يفعلون / هي تفعل / هما تفعلان / هنّ يفعلن / انتَ تفعل / انتما تفعلان / انتم تفعلون / انتِ تفعلين / انتما تفعلان / انتنّ تفعلن / انا أفعل / نحن نفعل
Place the above in two separate columns. Start with يفعل etc and go with it to its end. Then memorize the هو etc part, as you did for the previous scale. This scale is a walk in the park. Just walk in the shady part or wear a good sun block!
Asalamualikom,
Imam Muhammad Shoayb, is there any way we can post lectures from every class or maybe every week? It would be great if we can because i really want to be there but under some circumstances i can’t make it every week.
‘i really want to be there but under some circumstances i can’t make it every week.‘
Come whenever you can. Buddy up with some of the students that would be willing to assist you. As long as you show interest, i am willing to assist you and all others (whomsoever you maybe!)
Upon much thought and private responses from other students, posting lectures would not be practical, for i call upon students, (no, i do not pick on them) — their privacy would be taken away on the recording device. As a result, people would view students in an over positive light, or extreme negative light. My lecture style, as you may notice is not to hurt students, but to continually test their knowledge so as to make them stronger in areas they need assistance.
its on this given tread. Merely scroll to it.
Hint: Practice this scale in sentence form. eg: they (two) girls hit, they many males eat, you many woman were quite, etc. (see, not so bad!)
Assalamu Alaykum,
Imaam Shoayb, Can you please clarify something on Kitab of Allah? I am confused because some of us students have different interpretations of the two Imaams. From what I have on my notes, both Imaams agree that a man must divroce a woman when she is tuhur, but they have a difference of opinion on the three periods. Imaam Shafe’e states that the three periods must be exact and imaam Hanafee states that it could be more or less. Do they agree on the three periods and differ on the timing? or do they differ on both the three periods and the timing?
JazakAllah Khayr for your time!
correction one: my name is Muhammed Shoayb
Yes, they both agree that it is sunnah to divorce when a woman is in the state of thur (purity)
For I.S, you get a portion of two, or a little more then three
for I. A. H. You get exactly 3 (because you counting her menses. and to attain the exact number of 3 is thus more easy)
(why or how for I.S. you never fully always get exactly three? if you know this, you are a winner!)
(also, what are the implication if not exactly three)
For Imam Shafi you never get three because he says right at the begining of Thur you start counting it, so if the woman is not sure or if she lies then it can go more or less.
If it’s not exactly three than there would be inequality, the man would be supporting his wife (if over three)more than he needs to or if it’s less than the women would be short changed because she wouldn’t be getting support when she should be getting it. In both cases both individual have a chance of being short changed so that’s why being precise is necessary.
I’m not sure if this is right but yes we can! Imam Muhammad Shoyab 09!
JazakAllah Khayr for the response! Apologies to name, not sure which one to use Muhammad or Muhammed?
And to your question, I.S. does not fully get three because of the thur, how does one know when to count the thur??
just to clarify, I meant that I.S. does not specify when to count the three periods, as the example you gave us in class of the one second. The above comment it not a question!
